
Sony Pictures is in talks to land Electronic Arts’ Battlefield movie package, potentially bringing the popular video game franchise to the big screen.
TheWrap reports that Christopher McQuarrie is attached to write, direct and produce the film, while Michael B. Jordan is attached to produce and could potentially star.
The project has reportedly attracted interest from several major studios and streamers, with Sony now negotiating with Electronic Arts.
Plot details remain under wraps. The Battlefield video game franchise, which debuted in 2002, is known for its large-scale military combat and immersive multiplayer experiences.
For Jordan, the project would add another major production to his growing work behind the camera through his Outlier Society banner, while McQuarrie brings extensive action-film experience from his work on the Mission: Impossible franchise.
Additional producers reportedly include EA’s Jesse Stern, Carter Swan of Emerald Neon, Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment, and Elizabeth Raposo of Outlier Society.The deal has not been finalized, and Jordan’s potential acting role remains unconfirmed. No release date has been announced.
